THE SCHOOL

NECB is a non profit organization committed to providing comprehensive dance training. Within its two state of the art studios NECB’s highly skilled faculty create an environment that is nurturing while imparting the discipline of each dance form and the historical
integrity of dance.


PHILOSOPHY

At the heart of our school is the belief that each students dance education instills qualities that remain with students throughout their lives. Through the process of learning students take with them the satisfaction of hard work, the importance of dedication and teamwork, and the value of one’s self. Whether a dance career is planned, students are presented with material that reflects the standards of today’s dance world as well as the traditions of the past. NECB sees each student’s successful dance education as a team effort between
student, parent and faculty.

CURRICULUM


The Ballet Curriculum - The ballet curriculum is based upon the Vagonova method. Young students focus on the basic elements of classical ballet including theintroduction of terminology and class room etiquette. Intermediate students and advanced student expand upon these building blocks becoming familiar with various styles that exist in today’s dance world.

The Jazz Curriculum- The jazz curriculum focuses on developing clean lines, strong technique and the understanding of the body’s core. styles include a combination of classical jazz, contemporary movement and modern jazz.

The Tap Curriculum- The tap curriculum emphasizes precision of movement, strong rhythmic skills and technique.
Students are presented with the traditional tap styles as well as the changing styles of tap today.

The Lyrical Curriculum- The lyrical curriculum is a fusion of ballet and jazz technique that interprets music or lyrics while following traditional lines and technique.

The Hip Hop Curriculum- The hip hop curriculum reflects the evolving form of hip hop in today’s dance world.

The Modern Dance Curriculum- The modern curriculum will focus on Horton, Humphrey and Graham technique and will explore the elements of space.

 

CLASS OBSERVATION

We whole-heartedly encourage weekly viewing of class. This
allows you to see the student’s progression and enjoyment. We require all observers to observe from outside the classroom and to refrain from making comments to students while class is in progress. Classroom doors will be closed if waiting area becomes excessively noisy, or there are distractions to either the students or teacher. Please do not leave siblings unattended in waiting areas.
